November 30, 2009 - Another unique day in Mangum's history! 2009 has been named the International Year of Astronomy. Our media specialist, Mrs. Poston, was awarded a grant from NASA giving Mangum permanent ownership of the new mural sized images of the Center of the Milky Way. Plan to visit Mangum's Media Center to view the murals for yourself. We would love to tell you more.

Preliminary Spelling Bee Held |

Some of Mangum's finest spellers!
First through Fifth Grade students participated in Mangum's first schoolwide spelling bee on December 17, 2009. There were lots of guesses, starts and stops, and numerous successes for the day. Some students moved through several grade levels of words. Congratulations to all the winners! The final bee will be held January 20, 2010 in the school media center. Students will be selected from the preliminary rounds to particpate and try for the title of Mangum's best speller. |

The weather's a little cooler, the corn is high and Mangum kindergarten students know all about "pumpkin picking". What a great day at the pumpkin patch! Madelyne and Jasmine make the perfect outdoor pumpkin partners. |
